Children in Need 2017

Throughout the school day, an exercise bike was kept in motion by the young people and staff. This endurance exercise was rewarded by a joint effort of completing over 140 km. This is the equivalent of cycling from Exeter to beyond Bournemouth!

Speech and Language award

As a result, a number of other local authorities have expressed an interest in following the Devon example by integrating a similar provision of speech and language therapy for young people who offend or are in danger of offending.

Koestler Awards 2017

It has been another very good year for Atkinson students in the annual Koestler Awards. We have our first results back as part of the Under 18s Fast Forward Programme.

Anti-bullying week at Atkinson 26-30 June 2017

Anti-Bullying Week shines a spotlight on bullying and encourages all young people, teachers and carers to take action against bullying throughout the year. The theme this year is ‘All Different, All Equal’.

Art workshops at the Atkinson School

During last term’s Art Week, the students at the Atkinson School had the opportunity to participate in a variety of workshops.

Atkinson has been awarded funding by DFE to support the STAIRS project.

For Atkinson, this will mean additional psychology time for our young people and we will be working with the National STAIRS team to embed this practice across the home.

Koestler Awards

This year, there were over 6,700 entries and there are only 190 artworks chosen for the exhibition, so to have a piece of art selected from Atkinson is a great achievement
