Atkinson is located in Exeter, Devon, in the south west of England. The thriving city, surrounded by the idyllic countryside, along with local coastal resorts, offers young people numerous opportunities to undertake recreational, educational, leisure and sporting activities on agreed ‘mobilities’ when they are approved to go on trips outside the home.
Our local beaches and Dartmoor and Exmoor National Parks are all great therapeutic settings. We also regularly take advantage of adventure parks, outdoor centres, zoos, and a number of other children’s activities centres that allow children to be children.
All these trips are planned and take into account the individual needs of the young people in our care and their individual care plans. Every trip outside the home is risk assessed and escorted by staff.
