Atkinson’s Anti-Bullying Week took place from 26-30 June 2017, a pre-empt to the national Anti-Bullying Week (13-17 November 2017).
Anti-Bullying Week shines a spotlight on bullying and encourages all young people, teachers and carers to take action against bullying throughout the year. The theme this year is ‘All Different, All Equal‘ with the following aims:
- empower children and young people to celebrate what makes them, and others, unique
- help children and young people understand how important it is that every child feels valued and included in school, able to be themselves, without fear of bullying
- encourage carers to work with and talk about bullying, difference and equality
- enable teachers, school support staff and youth workers to celebrate what makes us ‘all different, all equal’ – by celebrating difference and equality and taking individual and collective action to prevent bullying, creating safe environments where children can be themselves
The young people at Atkinson designed posters and direct work with the young people was focused around this. Here are some examples of the posters:
