Medium-termThat all staff (care and education) feel they can deal with the different disabilities and additional needs of our young peopleA rolling programme of INSET and other identified training opportunities for care and education staff on all areas of SEND. This is to be carried out by the SENCo, SMT and CAMHS teams.Staff will feel better able to communicate with and cater for the needs of our young people, the young people will feel listened to and understood, thus reducing stress, and enabling them to engage more in the curriculum.A rolling programme of INSET and other identified training opportunities for care and education staff in all areas of SEND. Long-termA new home with education
facilities to be purpose built, taking into consideration the needs and disabilities of our young people so that we can offer a truly individualised programme of study for all our young people, for them to be able to access education successfully and improve their long-term outcomes.
Funding to be applied for and agreed by senior managers and the commissioning team at DCC, plans to be created and a site chosen, that senior managers consult specialist staff as to what would be the most appropriate environment for our young people with additional needs and
disabilities to access education in.
The Atkinson Secure Children’s Home will have a fit for purpose building and grounds, to optimise the learning opportunities for our young people.Within the next five years.
