Welcome to the first Atkinson Manager’s blog. I’ll be giving regular updates about news from the Atkinson. Please feel free to get in contact with any questions that you may have regarding the service that we deliver for Devon County Council.
We are currently all really busy in the Home as we organise and manage building works  with 5 different projects going on. By the end of March we’ll have new doors, windows, telephones, CCTV and air conditioning in the home! All the young people are going to benefit from new rooms that also have new desk spaces, so no excuses for not doing their homework!
Also this month, I’ve been to London to visit the Department of Health regarding service delivery nationwide. I’ll be back in London to talk to the Deparment of Education with the Secure Accommodation Network Core Group, to help move forward the policies for Secure Children’s Homes. Devon County Policy means I always travel with regard for the lowest CO2 emissions, so my carbon footprint is the smallest possible.
Finally, Congratulations to S.A. – our first Atkinson Monthly Recognition Award to staff in the home. The member of staff was nominated and chosen for his excellent keyworking and attention to detail in planning a great transition for a young person.
